The key to weight loss is to burn more calories than are consumed. But how much does an individual need to cut back to actually lose weight? Metabolic testing answers that question. By eating to their precise metabolic needs, clients will be able to eat as many calories as possible, and still lose weight. This has 2 major benefits. Many factors can affect a client's metabolic rate. These factors include body composition, exercise, and diet. Changes in any or all of these factors can alter metabolic rate during the course of a weight loss regimen. Assessing the success of individual weight loss strategies can be accomplished by re-testing metabolic rate over the course of a program.

How will Cardio Testing benefit clients?
Fitness Assessment (peak VO2)
VO2 max is considered by exercise physiologists to be the ultimate indicator of cardiovascular fitness. VO2 max is the maximum amount of oxygen consumed by your body during exercise. The Cardio testing equipment uses VO2 max along with your age to indicate fitness level. A personalized exercise regimen based on true VO2 max is essential to optimum cardio training.
Determines client's anaerobic threshold (AT)
The body can supply adequate oxygen to the muscles up to a certain exercise intensity level or threshold. This threshold is called the anaerobic threshold (AT). Exercising below the anaerobic threshold should be possible for long periods of time without experiencing muscle fatigue or soreness during or following the workout. Working out above the anaerobic threshold will improve cardio-vascular fitness, but it will also lead to fatigue and discomfort during and following the workout.
Calories per heart beat table
The Cardio testing report includes a table indicating how many calories a client burns at every exercise heart rate level. With this information, there is no longer a need to rely on generalized estimates of calories burned provided by a bike or treadmill.

Very few Personal Trainers are trained or skilled in conducting a true health and fitness evaluation/assessment, even though they might offer that terminology.
I do not conduct a one size fits all type of personal health and fitness training program. Just putting people through exercise routines, unrelated to their heath or fitness needs is a very poor practice and could jeopardize a clients health.
Each comprehensive health and fitness program is tailored to the clients, age, gender, health needs, special health conditions, fitness level, body type, goals, etc. and fees are determined accordingly, based on all the information gathered during the evaluation/assessment process.
Without the information that is gathered and obtained during the required 2 hour health and fitness evaluation/assessment, there would be little I could advise you on regarding an appropriate, individually tailored health and fitness program. I would have no information about you or your existing health to do so.
Most trainers offer no real or true health evaluation/assessment, or screening before starting a fitness program, even though they may claim too. Most don't know how to conduct one. Most have never been trained on how to conduct one, and quite honestly, wing it.
Most trainers don't understand what information to gather, and don't understand the information they may obtain and how to apply it to the client's health and fitness once they have obtained it. This is especially true if they are not certified.
A thorough health evaluation/assessment is essential for clients who suffer from physical or disease limitations, obesity, heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, fibromyalgia, or orthopedic problems, or those who require rehab fitness training due to heart surgery recovery, stroke, car accidents, or other trauma.
Many clients who have come to me had no previous knowledge of preexisting health problems, and had them indicated and spotted by my health and fitness evaluation/assessment. Weight Training vs. Aerobics for Reducing Fat:
A study published in the Journal of Applied Physiology proves that when it comes to burning fat and building strength, weight training is by far the best and it can't be beat.
30 active men were placed randomly in one of three groups.
The first group of men ran or jogged, the second group of men worked out with weights, and the third group of men combined both, in a cross-training program.
Fitness assessments were taken after the groups had exercised for 10 weeks, three days per week.
Weight lifters increased their base metabolic rate (BMR) (the rate at which ones body burns calories) by more than 6%, while cross trainers increased their BMR by only 4.6%.
When assessing strength gains findings showed similar results. Measured in one rep maxes, resistance-trained men had gains of 24% in bench press and 23% in squat. The cross-trained men made gains of 19% and 12% respectively.
Runners noted significant changes in aerobic power but NO improvement in metabolic rate or strength were found.

Currently, the fastest growing population in the U.S. is the 65-years and above age group. By the year 2030, the number of people over the age of 65 will have grown to 63 million. With regular exercise there is no reason why older adults can't experience good health for their entire lives.

Exercise Beats Diabetes!
According to the American Diabetes Association, an estimated 10.3 million Americans suffer from diabetes, and more than 798,000 new cases are diagnosed each year. The Journal of the American Medical Association reports that proper nutrition-including insoluble fiber-promotes stable blood sugar levels.
Two studies in medical literature—one conducted at the Copper Clinic in Dallas, Texas, and the other, at The Juntendo University School of Medicine in Tokyo, Japan—indicate that exercise wards off Type-2 Diabetes, also known as "adult-onset" diabetes. More than 14 million Americans will be affected by this type of disease.
Both studies compared men who were involved in physical exercise over many years to groups of men who were not physically fit or not involved in any exercise over the course of their lifetimes.
When ranked, those men who were least fit, compared to those who were most fit, had 3.7 times the diabetes risk, even after age, smoking, alcohol use, and family history had been factored out.
What's more, men who had been involved in fitness and exercise in their 30's were in their 50's at significantly less odds to developing diabetes or impaired glucose intolerance, a precursor to diabetes.

The fitness program for Adaptive Fitness (Fitness for the Physically Limited) is perhaps the most challenging and certainly the most rewarding of all our programs.
In our society, there is the underlying assumption that fitness does not apply to these individuals, but the medical reality is just the opposite. Because people with disabilities are often unable to perform basic activities like walking, their autonomic functions such as circulation, respiration, and digestion are more susceptible to the ravages of inactivity. So it is even more important to seek out activities and exercises to improve overall fitness.
bodybody Fitness & Health LLC tailors exercise programs to meet the very specific individual needs of people with disabilities, from the most severely disabled to the wheel chair athlete.
Strength and conditioning is universally applied to all programs, with modifications to the target group being trained, but for the purpose of this section we will discuss a more robust program for individuals that are training for a specific program, or who are interested primarily in adding significant muscle mass.













Sometimes modification of life long habits that hinder us or otherwise prohibit us from achieving our goals is necessary to incorporate in our overall fitness programs. Learning management skills in areas such as depression, stress, time, or behavioral traits often help empower us in reaching our desired outcomes.
